    I agree that the results can be confusing if popularity alone is used to judge a song. However, in the registration form, the organizers stated that “the criteria by which songs will be judged are: melody, lyrics, arrangement, vocal performance. In the groovy category groove will be the additional criteria” (http://www.socamonarch.net/new/images/registration-form-and-rules.pdf).

      Do they still use crowd reception as part of the judging criteria?

    ITS TRULY AN DISGRACE THAT SUPER BLUE TIED WITH MACHEL , SUPER BLUE COULD HAVE STAND ON STAGE WITHOUT SINGING ONE NOTE AND WON. PERSONALLY CALYPSO SOCA MONARCH COMPETITION HAS GONE TO THE DOGS. NOW THERE IS NO REAL STANDARD, AS I QUOTE ALANA SINETTE SONG WAS TRULY CORRECT IN SAYING IN TRINIDAD THERE IS NO MORAL VALUE . BENJAI WENT ON STAGE AND PROMOTED JOHNNY WALKER ,HE ALSO PROVED THAT THE COMPETITION MENT NOTHING , IWER GEORGE NEEDS TO GIVE IT UP AND FIND A WRITER , ANOTHER GIVE WHO TRULY DESERVE THEIR WIN OOOH GOSH BLAXX PERFORMANCE WAS GOOD ,BUT BENJAI PLACE HIGHER DISGRACEFUL .

      I can’t agree with you on everything, But Blaxx Definitely deserved a better placing.
